Per capirci qualcosa sarebbe utile scoprire il chipset del tuo modello...
prova a postare l'output del comando:

con la webcam attaccata ovviamente
e didmesg

Non RegistratoPurtroppo la tua webcam non è supportata nè dal modulo gspca nè dal modulo uvcvideo inclusi nel kernel di Ubuntu.
Sul sito di Linux UVC non c'è nessun accenno alla tua webcam, quindi non credo sia ancora supportata nemmeno nella versione in sviluppo (da SVN).
Se proprio non vuoi rassegnarti ad attendere ho trovato questo how-to per una webcam molto simile, potrebbe funzionare.
